The five 10 day residencies convene all the mfa students and faculty twice a year at the lied lodge conference center in nebraska city. The ceramics program offers the opportunity for concentrated studio work involving both technical and conceptual challenges. Featuring adirondack style timbers and stonework this retreat is set in the middle of a 260 acre wooded park. Each year a um ceramics student is juried to be a summer artist in r resident at the clay studio of missoula.

Biannually the red lodge clay center hosts a two week invited artist session of current mfa graduate students in ceramics. The bachelor of fine arts bfa each requires a minimum of 120 credit hours of course work. Candidates may focus their study in one or a combination of the following studio areas.
